According to the weather forecast, coastal districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.5 mm at isolated places between July 6 and July 8. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, while those already at sea have been urged to return immediately to the nearest safe harbour. Tourists and the general public have also been advised to stay away from beaches, riverbanks, reservoirs, and other vulnerable areas during the alert period.
The administration has warned people to avoid standing near trees, electric poles, hoardings, temporary structures, and buildings under construction during periods of strong winds. Residents have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors as far as possible.
People in rural areas have been urged to exercise caution while using small bridges, culverts, and roads that may be affected by heavy rain. Farmers have also been advised to temporarily suspend agricultural activities during adverse weather conditions and move to safe locations.
The district administration has cautioned the public against going near snapped power lines, damaged electrical equipment, or leaning electricity poles. Citizens have been requested to immediately report dangerous trees, damaged structures, or any life threatening situation to the District Emergency Operations Centre or the respective Tahsildar’s office.
