Youth Dies After Electrocution in Mundgod, Case Filed Against HESCOM Officials
Police register a case against a HESCOM lineman and section officer following the electrocution death of a 26 year old man in Jogeshwarahalli village.

Mundgod: A 26 year old man died after coming into contact with a live electric wire in Jogeshwarahalli village of Mundgod taluk on Sunday evening. Following the incident, a case has been registered against a HESCOM lineman and a section officer at the Mundgod Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Janu Kokkare. According to the complaint, the accident occurred near the Government Lower Primary School, where an electric pole and power line installed by HESCOM were allegedly not maintained properly.
Police said the incident took place at around 6.30 pm on June 28 when Janu had gone to pluck flowers from the school premises. It is alleged that electricity was leaking from the power line and came into contact with his leg, causing him to collapse. He died at the spot.
The complaint was lodged by the victim’s brother, Vitthal Kokkare, who alleged negligence on the part of HESCOM officials. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against the lineman and the section officer and have launched an investigation.
Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
