Vehicle Owners Face Higher PUC Testing Fees in Karnataka From August 15
The state government has increased pollution testing charges for two wheelers, autorickshaws, cars and diesel vehicles.

Vehicle owners in Karnataka will now have to pay more to obtain a Pollution Under Control certificate, with revised PUC testing fees coming into effect from August 15.
Under the new rates, the PUC testing fee for two wheelers has increased from Rs 65 to Rs 80. The charge for autorickshaws has gone up from Rs 75 to Rs 80.
For petrol, LPG and CNG powered cars, the testing fee has been raised from Rs 115 to Rs 150. Diesel vehicle owners will now have to pay Rs 200 instead of the earlier Rs 160.
The state government issued an official order on August 13 approving the revised charges. The decision was taken based on a proposal submitted by the Transport Commissioner and the Commissioner for Road Safety.
The Karnataka Emission Testing Centres Owners Association had earlier requested an increase in PUC testing fees. Following the request, the Transport Department submitted a proposal to the state government, which has now approved the revised rates.
Vehicle owners have also been advised to keep track of the validity of their PUC certificates.
A PUC certificate is generally valid for six months. However, certain vehicles meeting BS4 and BS6 emission standards may receive certificates with a validity of up to one year.
The Transport Department has advised motorists to check the expiry date of their PUC certificate and complete the required emission test at an authorised testing centre before the certificate expires.
