V D Satheesan Takes Oath as Kerala Chief Minister
Congress leader V D Satheesan was sworn in as Kerala Chief Minister in Thiruvananthapuram following the UDF’s decisive Assembly election victory.

Senior Congress leader V D Satheesan on Monday took oath as the new Chief Minister of Kerala at a ceremony held in Thiruvananthapuram.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to Satheesan, who took the oath in the name of God. Along with him, members of his 20 member Cabinet were also sworn in during the ceremony.
The event was attended by several top Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Chief Ministers from Congress ruled states, former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, leaders from Left parties and BJP representatives were also present at the swearing in ceremony.
Thousands of Congress supporters from different parts of Kerala gathered in the state capital to witness the event.
The Assembly elections for the 140 member Kerala Assembly were held on April 9, and the results were announced on May 4. The Congress led United Democratic Front secured a strong victory by winning 102 seats. The Left Democratic Front won 35 seats, while the BJP managed to secure three seats.
Satheesan now takes charge of the state government following the UDF’s return to power with a clear majority.
