Mangaluru/Sirsi: At least two people lost their lives and a woman suffered serious injuries in three separate road accidents reported across Karnataka’s coastal and Malnad regions during the past 24 hours. Reckless and high speed driving is suspected to be the main cause behind the incidents.

The second accident took place on State Highway 69 near Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district. A 30 year old man identified as Malatesh Nagarad from Haveri district was travelling on his bike when a Bolero vehicle coming from the opposite direction allegedly hit him after moving into the wrong lane.

According to eyewitnesses, the Bolero driver, identified as Mallikarjun, was driving recklessly at the time of the crash. Malatesh died due to the impact of the collision. Police have registered a case against the driver.

In another incident reported from Sirsi town in Uttara Kannada district, a car lost control and rammed into an electric pole near MES College on Sunday evening. The front portion of the vehicle was completely damaged in the accident.

Despite the severity of the crash, the driver escaped with only minor injuries in what many described as a miraculous escape.
