Two Booked for Disabling Over 240 CCTV Cameras at Chinnaswamy Stadium During IPL Match
Police suspect personal dispute behind brief surveillance disruption on match day in Bengaluru

Bengaluru police have registered a case against two individuals accused of tampering with the CCTV system at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 24, the day of the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans.
The accused, identified as Manjunath, 37, and Abdul Kalam, 19, allegedly gained unauthorised entry into the stadium by misusing a deactivated access card. Police say they then interfered with key surveillance systems, leading to a temporary shutdown of more than 240 cameras.
The complaint was filed by Aditya Bhat from Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, which provides AI based monitoring services during match days. According to the FIR, the disruption occurred on the morning of the game, affecting surveillance coverage across critical areas such as entry gates and perimeter zones.
Investigators say the duo, reportedly linked to subcontractor IVS Digital Solutions, accessed the CCTV control room without proper authorization. They are accused of damaging Network Video Recorder systems and optical fibre connections. Further damage was reported at a junction box near the parking area, where fibre links were allegedly cut.
A senior police officer stated that the incident took place around 11.30 am and was resolved within an hour. Despite the disruption, all cameras were restored quickly, and match operations were not affected.
Preliminary findings suggest the act may have been driven by a personal grievance, possibly related to unpaid dues. Police confirmed that both accused have been identified and further legal action is underway.
