Trump Signals Final Phase of Iran Strategy, Warns of Escalation Without Deal
US president claims military gains, thanks Middle East allies, and issues strong warning over Iran’s energy infrastructure
Washington: US President Donald Trump has said the United States is nearing the end of its objectives in Iran, while praising support from key Middle Eastern allies including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and Bahrain.
Speaking about recent developments, Trump said the US is close to completing its mission and described the progress as significant. He credited allied nations for their cooperation and assured continued backing to ensure stability in the region.
He pointed to ongoing military operations, stating that US forces have achieved strong results over the past month. According to Trump, Iran’s naval and air strength has been weakened, and its ability to launch missiles and drones has been reduced. He also claimed that key military facilities, including weapons factories and launch systems, have been heavily damaged.
Trump reiterated his long-standing criticism of the 2015 nuclear agreement signed during former President Barack Obama’s administration. He argued that the deal would have eventually allowed Iran to develop nuclear weapons, while Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is peaceful.
He explained that the current US strategy is focused on limiting Iran’s military capabilities and preventing it from supporting armed groups in the region. He added that the broader goal is to ensure Iran cannot develop nuclear weapons and said the US is close to achieving these targets.
In his remarks, Trump also addressed global energy concerns, urging countries that rely on Gulf oil to take a more active role in securing the Strait of Hormuz. He suggested that nations should consider increasing their dependence on American energy resources and take stronger steps to protect vital shipping routes.
Tensions remain high as the situation continues to evolve, raising concerns about regional stability and global oil supply. Trump said the US will continue its operations until all objectives are met and expressed confidence that the mission will be completed soon.
At the same time, he issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that the US is prepared to intensify its actions in the coming weeks. He indicated that critical infrastructure, including power generation facilities, could be targeted if no agreement is reached during this period.
Trump also clarified that regime change was not the original aim of the campaign, though he suggested that internal developments in Iran have already altered its leadership situation.
