Sirsi Woman Loses ₹80,000 After Clicking Fake Job Offer Link
Cyber fraudsters allegedly emptied the victim's bank account after luring her with a fake online job opportunity.

A young woman from Kasturba Nagar in Sirsi lost nearly ₹80,000 in a cyber fraud after responding to a fake online job offer sent to her mobile phone.
According to the complaint, the woman received a message claiming that she could choose a job by clicking a link provided in the message. As she was looking for employment, she opened the link and entered her mobile number to register.
Soon after completing the registration, she received a notification stating that the process was successful. To gain her trust, the fraudsters even credited ₹100 as a bonus to her SBI bank account.
The scammers later showed her images of online shopping products and claimed that by paying ₹1,000, she would receive goods worth around ₹25,000. Believing the offer to be genuine, the woman transferred ₹1,000 to the bank account provided by the fraudsters.
Within minutes of making the payment, nearly ₹80,000 was withdrawn from her SBI account through multiple transactions. When she checked her account, she found that the balance had been reduced to zero.
The woman immediately approached her bank, where officials informed her that the money had been transferred to several different accounts. She later filed a complaint with the Cyber Police, who have launched an investigation into the incident.
Police have warned the public to remain alert as cyber fraud cases involving fake job offers, investment schemes, prize claims, and online shopping scams are increasing. They have advised people not to click on unknown links, share banking details or OTPs, or transfer money without verifying the authenticity of online messages and offers.
