SIO Bhatkal Hosts Round Table Discussion on The Idea of India, Highlights Media’s Role in Building Social Harmony
Journalists and SIO leaders call for responsible journalism and stronger communal harmony during a discussion on constitutional values and national identity.

Bhatkal: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Bhatkal Unit organised a round table discussion titled The Idea of India at Dawat Centre on Sultan Street, bringing together media professionals to discuss national identity, constitutional values, social harmony, and the role of the media in shaping an informed and inclusive society.
The programme was attended by SIO Karnataka State President Adi Al Hasan and State General Secretary Johar Kashif as special guests. Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasised that journalists and media organisations play a vital role in the progress of the country. They said the media is not only responsible for delivering news but also for promoting positive thinking and strengthening public awareness.
During the discussion, participating journalists stressed the importance of constructive journalism over sensational reporting. They noted that the current social environment calls for responsible media practices that encourage trust, tolerance, and mutual respect among communities.
The participants also highlighted the need for collective efforts to strengthen communal harmony, brotherhood, and mutual understanding among people from different backgrounds. They said that journalists, social organisations, and the public can work together to promote positive values and contribute to building a peaceful and united society.
