Provide Basic Infrastructure in All Industrial Areas, Says Uttara Kannada DC
DC K Lakshmipriya directs officials to address infrastructure needs and strengthen facilities for industries across the district
Karwar: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner K Lakshmipriya has directed officials to ensure that all industrial areas in the district are provided with essential basic infrastructure through the respective urban local bodies.
She was speaking at a meeting of the Industrial Response Committee and Single Window Clearance Committee held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Thursday.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials of the Industries Department to collect details of infrastructure requirements from entrepreneurs in the industrial areas of Bhatkal, Dandeli, Haliyal, Kumta, Yellapur, Sirsi, Shirwad and Ramanagar and submit them to the District Urban Development Cell.
She directed the concerned urban local bodies to include the required works in their action plans for the current financial year and submit proposals at the earliest so that the works can be taken up.
K Lakshmipriya appreciated the coordination between departments in resolving long pending issues related to industrial layouts, including correction of maps and issuance of e property documents. She directed officials to complete all remaining cases at the earliest.
Officials of the Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation were instructed to personally inspect every industrial area, verify records and submit a factual report on functioning and non functioning industrial units.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to take necessary steps for establishing a 33/1 kV power substation to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the Ramanagar and Kumta industrial areas, allotting sites in the Ambewadi Auto Nagar industrial area and completing registration related procedures for Vishwa Malige in Mirjan of Kumta taluk.
HESCOM officials informed the meeting that the estimate for installing a separate feeder for the Kumta industrial area has already been approved. The remaining work involves laying an underground cable beneath the railway track. The entire project, including this work, is expected to be completed within one month, they said.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the District Skill Development Officer to collect details from industrialists about their requirements for technically skilled workers. These requirements should be discussed with heads of ITIs and diploma colleges so that skill training can be organised for students based on the needs of local industries.
Joint Director of the District Industries Centre Nagaraj Naik, Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Prakash Halammanavar, District Urban Development Cell Project Director Zaheer Abbas and officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
