Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly to Deliver Friday Sermon at Masjid al-Haram on 05 Dhul Hijjah
The Imam of the Grand Mosque will lead Jumu'ah prayer on 5 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH — just four days before Arafah, the holiest day of Hajj.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that Sheikh Dr. Maher bin Hamad Al-Muaiqly, Imam and Khatib of Masjid al-Haram, will deliver this Friday’s sermon and lead the Jumu’ah prayer at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
The prayer is scheduled for 5 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH — one of the most spiritually charged Fridays of the entire year. With Arafah Day falling on 9 Dhul Hijjah and Eid al-Adha just around the corner, Makkah is currently overflowing with millions of Hajj pilgrims from every nation on earth, making this Friday’s gathering at Masjid al-Haram an extraordinarily powerful and memorable occasion.
As is the standard practice, a reserve Khatib has also been officially confirmed for this week. Sheikh Dr. Bandar bin Abdulaziz Baleelah will serve as the standby preacher, ready to step in if needed.
Sheikh Al-Muaiqly is one of the most widely recognised Imams in the Muslim world. His voice is beloved by millions of Muslims globally, and his Friday sermons — broadcast live each week from the Grand Mosque — attract some of the largest audiences of any religious address anywhere in the world. This week, with the Grand Mosque surrounded by pilgrims in their millions, his sermon will carry an especially profound weight.
