Sheikh Prof. Dr. Yasser Al-Dosari named reserve khateeb for the 1 Rabi al-Awwal sermon

The Agency for Imams and Muezzins Affairs has announced that His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Humaid, Imam and Khateeb of the Grand Mosque, will deliver this Friday’s sermon in Makkah. The sermon falls on 1 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH, corresponding to mid-August 2026.
As is customary, a reserve khateeb has also been designated for the occasion. This week, that role goes to Sheikh Prof. Dr. Yasser bin Rashid Al-Dosari, who will stand in if required.
Sheikh Al-Humaid is one of the most senior and respected imams associated with the Grand Mosque, having served in leading religious and academic roles in Saudi Arabia for decades. His sermons are followed closely by Muslims around the world through live broadcasts from Makkah.
Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque continue to draw enormous crowds each week, with worshippers gathering from across the globe to follow the khutbah and prayers live from the Holy Kaaba.
