According to family sources, Hafiz Ashfaq attended Jamia Islamia as usual on Tuesday and carried out his teaching responsibilities. After feeling unwell during the day, he took some rest before returning home prior to Asr prayers. As his condition worsened, he was admitted to Welfare Hospital in Bhatkal.

Doctors later advised that he be shifted to Mangaluru for advanced treatment. However, while preparations were underway and he was being placed in the ambulance, he passed away.

Hafiz Ashfaq served Jamia Islamia Bhatkal for nearly 29 years, during which he guided hundreds of students in memorizing the Holy Quran.
