Rahul Gandhi Alleges RSS BJP Targeting Constitution at Ambedkar Marathon Event
Congress leader says equality is under threat as he flags off run to honour Ambedkar and defend constitutional values

Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a sharp criticism of the RSS and BJP, accusing them of working against the spirit of the Constitution and equality in India.
Speaking at the flag off of the “Run For Ambedkar, Run For Constitution” marathon in New Delhi, Gandhi said that the core idea behind the Constitution, as envisioned by B. R. Ambedkar, was to ensure equality for all citizens. He alleged that forces aligned with the RSS and BJP do not support this principle and are attempting to weaken the Constitution.
Gandhi said that while leaders from these groups may publicly pay respect to Ambedkar, their actions suggest otherwise. According to him, their long term goal is to dismantle the constitutional framework that guarantees equal rights.
The Congress leader emphasized that his party remains committed to protecting and strengthening the Constitution. He said the marathon was organized to spread awareness about constitutional values and ensure that Ambedkar’s vision reaches every part of the country.
Later, Gandhi shared his thoughts on social media, describing the event as a reflection of the party’s dedication to the ideals of Ambedkar and the Constitution. He called on citizens to stand united against injustice and discrimination, urging them to defend democratic principles with determination.
The event was held ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti, observed every year on April 14 to mark the birth anniversary of Ambedkar, who played a key role in shaping India’s Constitution and championing social justice.
Among those present at the event was former Indian cricket captain and politician Mohammad Azharuddin, who praised the initiative. He said such campaigns should be expanded across the country, highlighting the importance of unity for national progress.
Meanwhile, Congress units also marked the birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Phule at an event in Lucknow, underlining the party’s continued focus on social justice and equality.
