One Killed, Over 20 Injured as Private Sleeper Bus Overturns Near Ankola
Bus travelling from Ballari to Goa loses control on NH 52, causing major traffic disruption and multiple injuries.

Ankola: One passenger lost his life and more than 20 others were injured after a private Seabird sleeper bus overturned near Ankola in Uttara Kannada district during the early hours of Saturday.
The accident occurred near Adlur Kanchina Bagilu on National Highway 52 between Yellapur and Ankola. The bus, which was travelling from Ballari to Goa, reportedly lost control before overturning. Authorities said there were 36 passengers on board at the time of the incident.
One of the passengers, who sustained critical injuries in the crash, died while being transported to a hospital. Six seriously injured passengers have been shifted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital in Karwar for advanced treatment.More than 15 other passengers suffered minor injuries and are receiving treatment at the Government Hospital in Ankola. Among the survivors was Mohammed Ilyas from Chitradurga, who escaped with minor injuries, according to sources.
The overturned bus blocked the highway, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road, resulting in long queues stretching several kilometres.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Ankola police officers and emergency personnel rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. The injured were evacuated and provided medical assistance. A crane was later used to remove the bus from the roadway, allowing traffic movement to resume.
A case has been registered at the Ankola Police Station, and further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
