Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has praised 18 year old whistleblower Sarthak Sidhant and his associate Nisarga Adhikary for uncovering alleged irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s on screen marking system used for Class 12 board examinations.

Sharing a video of his meeting with Sarthak on social media platform X, Gandhi said the two youngsters displayed remarkable courage, integrity and determination while investigating the issue. According to him, their findings raised serious concerns about the process used to select the vendor responsible for the digital evaluation system.

The controversy gained attention after several students claimed that the scanned answer sheets made available by CBSE did not appear to match their handwriting. These complaints led to questions about the transparency and reliability of the evaluation process.

In his post, Gandhi said Sarthak and Nisarga succeeded in uncovering facts that even major media organizations and investigative journalists had failed to bring to light. He described their achievement as a victory for India’s youth and said it demonstrated the importance of asking questions and seeking accountability.

The Congress leader also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the government prefers young people to focus on social media content and small jobs rather than questioning those in power. Gandhi said the two students proved that informed and curious youth can play a meaningful role in exposing wrongdoing.

The government has already removed two senior CBSE officials in connection with the controversy. However, the Congress party has called the move insufficient and described it as an attempt to divert attention from the larger issue.

Gandhi has demanded the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for an independent judicial inquiry into the matter.

During the meeting, Gandhi asked Sarthak about the methods he used to investigate the alleged tendering irregularities. He praised the teenager for carrying out work that resembled professional investigative journalism.

Sarthak had previously presented his findings before a parliamentary panel examining the issue. After meeting him last week, Gandhi shared photographs and encouraged the young whistleblower to remain committed to his principles.

The case has sparked a wider debate about accountability within the education system and highlighted the role that informed and vigilant young citizens can play in bringing important issues to public attention.
