Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing the party of failing to provide good governance and “betraying” the people due to ongoing internal conflicts in Karnataka.

Addressing a large gathering of BJP workers in Bengaluru, Modi said the Congress government in Karnataka had spent more time dealing with internal political disputes than addressing public issues.

“For the past three years in Karnataka, instead of solving people’s problems, the government has remained busy handling internal conflicts,” the Prime Minister said.

He referred to the continuing power struggle between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, which has dominated political discussions in the state in recent months.

“They cannot decide how long the chief minister will continue. They cannot decide whether another leader will get an opportunity. Everything has been left uncertain,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister alleged that Congress governments quickly face public dissatisfaction because the party lacks a clear governance agenda.

“Congress only knows how to betray people. They themselves are false, and their guarantees are also false. There is no chapter on governance in Congress’ politics,” he remarked.

Modi projected the BJP led NDA as a symbol of political stability and development at a time of global uncertainty. He said recent election outcomes in different states showed increasing support for the NDA’s governance model.

Highlighting the NDA’s return to power in Puducherry for a second straight term, its government formation again in Assam, BJP’s improved performance in West Bengal, and victories in Gujarat local body polls, Modi described the results as signs of a major political shift in the country.

“These election results show the mood of India’s youth, women, farmers, poor, and middle class,” he said.

“People want speed, not scams. They want solutions and politics based on national interest,” the Prime Minister added.

Modi also praised Karnataka’s contribution to the BJP’s rise over the years, saying the state had supported the party even during its early stages.

“I can see a saffron sun rising from the land of Bengaluru today. Even when the BJP was not a large party, Karnataka gave it immense strength,” he said.
