Joida: More than 40 passengers, including school and college students, were injured in a serious road accident after two KSRTC (NWKRTC) buses collided head on near Chapoli Cross in Joida taluk on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred on the Sadashivgad Aurad State Highway at Chapoli Ghat. One bus was travelling on the Ulavi to Ichalkaranji route, while the other was operating between Belagavi and Ankola. The impact of the collision severely damaged the front portions of both buses and created panic among passengers.
According to reports, over 100 people were travelling in the two buses at the time of the accident. Among them were students from BGVS PU College in Joida and a college in Dandeli. Several passengers sustained injuries, while some suffered serious wounds.

Passengers with serious injuries were later shifted to KRIMS Hospital in Karwar and a private hospital in Dharwad for advanced medical care. Other injured victims continue to receive treatment at Joida Taluk Hospital.
