Tension has escalated in Telangana’s Nizamabad district after several organisations announced a district wide bandh on Monday over allegations that a school principal was assaulted in Armoor.

The controversy began after Amer Khan, principal of Bharat Chandra School run by the Mallaiah Educational Trust, alleged that a group of BJP workers entered the school on Saturday and attacked him during an argument over the teaching of Urdu to non Muslim students.

Speaking to reporters, Khan said the school introduced Urdu only after repeated requests from parents who wanted their children to learn the language. He explained that the management approved the proposal and appointed a teacher for the subject.

According to Khan, the school had planned to conduct Urdu classes in a separate section. However, the newly appointed teacher was unaware of this arrangement and held a combined class, which led to the dispute.

Khan also alleged that he and another teacher were treated unfairly at the local police station. He claimed they were made to sit on the floor for several hours and that no immediate action was taken against those accused of attacking them.

The incident has drawn strong reactions from minority organisations, teachers’ associations, and social groups. They have demanded strict action against those responsible and better protection for educators. The bandh has been called to press these demands.

Political leaders, including Amjed Ullah Khan, have condemned the alleged assault and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders and affiliated organisations, including Bajrang Dal, ABVP, and RSS, have rejected the allegations against their workers. They accused the school management of forcing Hindu students to offer namaz and claimed this had hurt the religious sentiments of parents and students.

Local BJP leader Nutala Srinivas criticised the school, while a group of parents staged a protest outside the campus. They questioned why Urdu was being taught without any government directive and alleged that the subject had become compulsory after the current principal took charge.

The incident has further heightened communal tensions in the district as both sides continue to level accusations while authorities work to maintain peace and order.
