Kumta: A new Trauma Care Centre and Casualty Unit has been inaugurated at the Kumta Government Hospital in Uttara Kannada district. The facility was built under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru.

The new unit was inaugurated by Health Minister U T Khader at the hospital’s newly constructed building. The facility is designed to provide faster and better medical care for patients facing emergencies, including road accidents and other critical health conditions.

The project is expected to improve emergency healthcare services for people in Kumta and surrounding areas by ensuring timely treatment and better medical support.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kumta Honavar MLA Dinakar Shetty, senior officials from Bharat Electronics Limited, District Commissioner Lakshmipriya, Superintendent of Police Deepan M, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat Deelish Shashi, District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Chairman Satish Naik, along with government officials, doctors, elected representatives, and members of the public.

The new facility, developed through BEL’s CSR programme, is expected to strengthen emergency medical services and improve access to quality healthcare for people across Uttara Kannada district.
