Mushairas Play Vital Role in Promoting Literature, Says Salik Nadwi
An intimate poetry session highlights the importance of literary forums in nurturing creative expression
Bhatkal: Literary gatherings like mushairas continue to play a crucial role in sustaining Urdu language and culture, said Syed Ahmed Salik Nadwi during a poetry session organized by Mehfil-e-Sher-o-Adab in Bhatkal.
Addressing the audience at the outset, Salik noted that while large-scale mushairas often draw bigger crowds, smaller and focused sittings offer greater scope to appreciate the finer elements of poetry. Such platforms, he said, help writers and listeners engage more deeply with literary craft and artistic expression. He also welcomed the participating poets and called for collective efforts to keep the literary tradition alive.
The evening opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Abdul Rahman, followed by a naat presented by student Faiz Halare. Maulvi Abdul Aleem Abu Nadwi formally welcomed the guests and participants.
A number of noted poets presented their works during the session, including Inayatullah Khatir, Maulana Jafar Sawan Nadwi, Maulvi Abdul Aleem Abu, Maulvi Raif Kola also known as Fatah Bhatkali, Rahmatullah Rahmat from Shivamogga, Ibn Hasan Bhatkali, Syed Ahmed Salik Nadwi, Iqbal Saeedi, and Dr Mohammad Hanif Shabab. The poets recited a range of compositions that were well received by the audience.
The session was moderated by Syed Ahmed Salik Nadwi. The vote of thanks was delivered by Maulvi Bashar Ruknuddin Nadwi, Secretary of Mehfil-e-Sher-o-Adab. The gathering concluded around 11 pm, followed by refreshments for attendees.
