Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani Delivers Powerful Seerat Address in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: In a country like India, where a large proportion of the population is young, protecting the younger generation from addiction, immoral behaviour and other social problems is a shared responsibility, said renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani.

Addressing a Seerat un Nabi ﷺ gathering organised by the Majlis e Miliya of Nawaiyat Colony, Bhatkal, at Tanzeem Jumma Masjid, Maulana Rahmani said Muslims have a comprehensive way of life through Shariah, which provides guidance for every aspect of human life.

He stressed that Muslims in India should demonstrate the beauty of Islam through their character and conduct and play an active role in addressing social problems.

Maulana Rahmani said the presence of Muslims in India should not be viewed as a mere coincidence. Rather, Muslims should use their conduct and values to contribute positively to society and help tackle the problems around them.

He explained that Islam does not simply wait for wrongdoing to occur before responding. Instead, it seeks to prevent sin by closing the doors and removing the causes that lead to it. At the same time, Islamic law provides a system of accountability when wrongdoing does take place.

He contrasted this with modern societies, where he said systems sometimes create conditions that encourage social problems while later introducing punishments for those same problems.

Call to protect the family system

Speaking about family values, Maulana Rahmani expressed concern over efforts to weaken the institution of marriage. He cited the growing acceptance of live in relationships as one example of changes that can undermine traditional family structures.

He urged Muslims to pay particular attention to protecting their homes, marriages and family values.

“Islam came with light,” he said, emphasising that wherever the teachings of Islam are genuinely practised and spread, the darkness of disbelief, false beliefs and moral corruption can be overcome.

He also called on Muslims not to restrict religious teachings to their personal lives. Instead, they should demonstrate the beauty of Islam through their actions, ethics and behaviour so that society can see its positive impact.

Earning wealth while remaining committed to faith

Discussing business and economic progress, Maulana Rahmani said earning money is not inherently wrong. In today’s world, economic strength can also help Muslims fulfil their religious and social responsibilities.

However, he urged Muslims to reflect on the purpose of their business activities.

The companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ engaged in trade and participated actively in worldly affairs, he noted. Yet their business activities never distracted them from remembering Allah, following the Prophet ﷺ or fulfilling their religious responsibilities.

He said the situation today is often different, as business and worldly pursuits can sometimes cause Muslims to neglect their religious obligations.

Explaining the difference between a Muslim and a non Muslim approach to business, he said a non Muslim trader may primarily focus on profit, while a Muslim should seek both profit and the pleasure of Allah.

For a Muslim, he said, business should become a means of drawing closer to Allah and benefiting society.

Concern over the younger generation

Maulana Rahmani also expressed concern about the challenges facing young people today.

He warned that if a large young population becomes affected by addiction, moral decline and misconduct, the consequences will extend beyond individuals and eventually affect society as a whole.

He said Muslims must recognise their responsibility towards the younger generation and provide them with strong religious, moral and character based education.

He further stressed that Shariah covers every major aspect of human life. By following its teachings, Muslims can improve their own lives while also making a meaningful contribution to the moral and social wellbeing of the wider community.

The special gathering was presided over by Majlis e Miliya President Dr. Atiq ur Rahman Muniri.

General Secretary Maulana Shawoor Kola Nadvi delivered the welcome address and explained the objectives of the programme. Maulana Abdul Raqeeb MJ Nadvi served as the host.

The programme began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Qari Ahmed, followed by a Naat in praise of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ presented by Abdul Hadi.

Qazi of the Jamaat ul Muslimeen Bhatkal Maulana Abdul Rab Khateeb Nadvi, Nayeb Qazi and Khateeb of Tanzeem Jumma Masjid Maulana Ansar Nadvi Madani, Imam of Tanzeem Jumma Masjid Maulana Irfan Nadvi, along with other scholars, community representatives and a large number of people, attended the gathering.
