Grand literary gathering in Bhatkal features a traditional Urdu poetry session and felicitation of Dr Abdul Hafeez Khan Nadwi for his academic achievement.

A grand literary programme organised by Mahfil Shaer o Adab was held at the Madina Welfare Society Hall in Bhatkal, drawing a large number of poetry lovers, scholars, and members of the public.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Maulana Maqbool Ahmad Kobatte Nadwi, Rector of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, praised the literary efforts of Mahfil Shaer o Adab and described its activities as a valuable contribution to the cultural and literary environment of Bhatkal.
He said mushairas are an important part of cultural tradition, especially traditional “Tarahi Mushairas,” where poets present their thoughts and creativity based on a single given line. According to him, such gatherings beautifully reflect the diversity of ideas and intellectual depth among poets.
The programme began with introductory remarks by Maulana Syed Ahmad Salik Nadwi, who explained the objectives of the literary gathering and introduced the activities of Mahfil Shaer o Adab. He expressed happiness over the enthusiastic participation of young poets and said the evening would consist of two segments, including a Tarahi Mushaira and a felicitation ceremony for Dr Abdul Hafeez Khan Nadwi.
He also stressed the importance of preserving literary and cultural heritage through poetry and literature, encouraging the younger generation to continue contributing to the field.
The Tarahi Mushaira then commenced with several noted poets from Bhatkal presenting their poetry. This year’s poetic theme was based on a line by renowned Urdu poet Rakshan Abdaali: “Kisi ki yaad abhi tak dil e tabah mein hai.”
Poets who presented their work included Iqbal Saeedi, Ibn Hasan, Maulvi Raif Kola Nadwi, Suhail Arshi, Maulvi Shuqran Ghazi Nadwi, Syed Ahmad Salik Burmawar Nadwi, Irfan Jaser, Mohammad Ali Kola, and Rahmatullah Sahib.
Following the mushaira, Dr Abdul Hafeez Khan Nadwi was felicitated for receiving a PhD degree from Kuvempu University for his research on Urdu travel literature from South India. During the ceremony, he was honoured with a shawl and presented with a citation of appreciation.
Presenting the felicitation note, Mahfil Shaer o Adab Vice Secretary Maulvi Bashar Ruknuddin Nadwi congratulated Dr Abdul Hafeez Nadwi and conveyed his best wishes for his future academic contributions.
In his response, Dr Abdul Hafeez Nadwi briefly shared his academic journey and appreciated the literary and poetic services being carried out by Mahfil Shaer o Adab.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Syed Hamdan Burmawar, a student of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal. The event concluded around 11 pm with refreshments for guests and a vote of thanks delivered by Maulvi Shuqran Ghazi Nadwi.
A large number of literature enthusiasts and audience members attended the programme.
