Leopard Sightings Spark Fear Among Residents in Dandeli
A leopard was reportedly spotted near a residential colony, raising concerns among residents about their safety.
Dandeli: Residents in several parts of Dandeli taluk in Uttara Kannada district are increasingly concerned after videos showing leopard movement at different locations began circulating on social media.
The latest sighting was reported from the Ambewadi area, where residents said a leopard was seen near the KPTCL Colony on Wednesday night at around 9:30 pm.
Local residents recorded the animal on their mobile phones, and the footage has since been widely shared on social media.
Residents believe leopards may be entering residential areas in search of prey, particularly domestic dogs. The repeated sightings have added to concerns about the safety of people living in these neighbourhoods.
With reports of continued leopard movement in and around populated areas, residents have urged people to remain especially cautious at night and avoid unnecessary travel through areas where the animals have been spotted.
Local residents have also appealed to senior Forest Department officials to intervene immediately. They have called for an inspection of the affected areas and appropriate measures to safely capture and relocate the leopards, in order to prevent any possible incident.
