Landslide Along National Highway Near Honnavar, One Way Traffic Introduced for Safety
Continuous rainfall triggers another landslide near Ramatirtha bend as authorities restrict traffic to prevent accidents.

Honnavar: A fresh landslide occurred along the National Highway near the Ramatirtha bend in Honnavar taluk, prompting authorities to introduce one way traffic as a precautionary safety measure.
The incident was caused by continuous rainfall over the past two days, which weakened the hillside beside the highway. A large amount of soil suddenly collapsed onto the road, temporarily disrupting the movement of vehicles.
Fortunately, no vehicles were passing through the stretch when the landslide occurred. As a result, a major accident and possible loss of life were avoided. The incident created concern among local residents and motorists.
After receiving information about the landslide, National Highway officials and police rushed to the spot and launched emergency clearance work. Using heavy machinery, including a JCB excavator, they removed the debris from the road and restored traffic movement.
Officials said continuous rain has caused cracks to appear on the upper part of the hill, raising fears of additional landslides. As a precaution, one way traffic has been enforced in the area, and motorists have been advised to drive carefully.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and said further safety measures will be taken if the heavy rain continues.
