Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday extended his support to climate activist and education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in the 2026 NEET UG examination.

Kejriwal visited the protest site in New Delhi and expressed solidarity with Wangchuk and the youth led movement demanding accountability and reforms in the country’s examination system.

Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal urged the Central Government to listen to the concerns of students and protesters, warning that ignoring the movement could have political consequences in the future.

He also called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and suggested that Sonam Wangchuk be appointed as the country’s Education Minister.

“I appeal to the Prime Minister to remove Dharmendra Pradhan and appoint Sonam Wangchuk as the Union Education Minister,” Kejriwal said during his address.

The protest has gained momentum in recent days, drawing support from several political leaders and public figures amid growing concerns over alleged examination irregularities and education policies.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has directed authorities to ensure daily clinical monitoring of Wangchuk’s health condition. A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya observed that every citizen’s life is precious and directed government authorities to provide any necessary medical intervention without delay.

The court issued these directions while disposing of a public interest litigation that raised concerns over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health during his prolonged fast.

Sonam Wangchuk, an engineer, education reformer, and climate activist from Ladakh, entered the 19th day of his hunger strike on Thursday. The protest primarily seeks accountability over the alleged irregularities in the 2026 NEET UG examination and calls for reforms in the country’s examination system.
