Karnataka Launches Major Property Record Drive in Bengaluru
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar says special camps will help residents regularise and secure their property documents.

D K Shivakumar on Saturday announced a large scale property ownership drive in Bengaluru aimed at correcting and regularising property records across the city.
Shivakumar, who also oversees the Bengaluru Development portfolio, said the state government has already corrected nearly 23 lakh Khatas and made them available online for citizens to download.
He stated that the government has started the process of converting B Khatas into A Khatas and will conduct special Khata camps every Saturday across corporation limits beginning May 16.
An A Khata is considered an official legal property document in Bengaluru and confirms that a property complies with civic rules and property tax requirements.
Speaking about the initiative, Shivakumar said the campaign was launched to simplify and streamline property documentation for residents.
Under the “Khata Andolana” programme, the government plans to establish between five and ten centres in every corporation area to assist people with documentation and verification procedures.
The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to residents to make use of the camps and ensure their property papers are secure and updated.
Describing the programme as a people focused initiative, Shivakumar said the government’s objective is to provide proper ownership records to all eligible property holders and protect citizens from fraud related to land and housing documents.
He also claimed that the initiative has received national recognition and said the Union government had honoured Karnataka with an award for the programme.
