Karnataka Cabinet Expansion Likely as Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar Head to Delhi
Congress leadership set to discuss cabinet reshuffle and key organisational matters during high level meetings in the national capital.
The possibility of a cabinet expansion in Karnataka has gained momentum as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar prepare to visit New Delhi for important meetings with the Congress leadership.
The visit is expected to focus on the long pending cabinet expansion and reshuffle, with senior state leaders scheduled to meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other members of the party’s central leadership. The discussions are likely to centre on filling vacant ministerial positions and reviewing the allocation of important portfolios.
The Congress leadership faces the challenge of accommodating several senior legislators who are seeking ministerial roles. Along with selecting new ministers, the party is also expected to consider regional balance, representation of different communities and internal party equations while finalising its decisions.
According to party sources, organisational restructuring and improving coordination between the state government and the party leadership are also expected to be part of the discussions.
Several aspiring legislators have reportedly reached New Delhi to present their cases before the party leadership. However, the final decision is expected to depend on factors such as individual performance, governance priorities and the party’s electoral strategy.
