According to eyewitness Salauddin, businessman Ashok Kumar allegedly refused to provide the advertisement and called the group “fake journalists” as they were leaving. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation involving around seven to eight people.

In a complaint filed at Hapur Dehat police station, Dr Shahrukh, Ahmad’s son in law, said he was informed by his wife that Ahmad had been severely assaulted. When he reached the community health centre, he spoke to people who had accompanied Ahmad to the flour mill.

According to the complaint, Ashok Kumar Gupta, his son Kapil, Naresh Kumar and four to five unidentified people allegedly abused the group. When Ahmad objected, the accused allegedly attacked him with kicks and punches, repeatedly striking his chest and other parts of his body.

Hapur Police confirmed Ahmad’s death following the assault. Two people have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident.

Superintendent of Police Madhuban Kumar said the journalist died following an assault linked to an advertisement dispute in the Hapur Dehat area. He added that further legal action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against those named in the complaint have yet to be established in court.
