Israel Advances Plans for 356 New Settlement Homes in West Bank
With over 5,600 units approved this year, settlement expansion reaches highest level on record.

JERUSALEM – Israel’s government has moved forward with plans to build 356 new settlement housing units southeast of Ramallah, continuing a rapid expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank.
According to the Israeli organization Peace Now, the latest tenders include 342 units across five compounds and 14 homes for military reservists’ families in Geva Binyamin. This comes just months after tenders were issued for 4,030 additional units in Ma’ale Adumim and Ariel.
So far in 2025, plans for 5,667 settlement homes have been published – the highest annual number ever recorded. If built, these units could house an estimated 25,000 more Israeli settlers in occupied territory.
Peace Now, which supports a two-state solution, accused the Netanyahu government of “exploiting every moment in power to destroy Israel’s chances for a future of peace” and warned that the continued construction undermines the possibility of a viable Palestinian state.
