Hindutva Activist Daksh Chaudhary Faces Backlash After Assault Video Surfaces in Ghaziabad
Video showing a Muslim man being beaten and forced to apologise sparks outrage and raises concerns over vigilantism.
A video allegedly showing Hindutva activist Daksh Chaudhary, also known as Akku Pandit, assaulting a Muslim man in Ghaziabad has triggered widespread criticism on social media.
The footage, shared by Hindu Raksha Dal on June 8, shows Chaudhary and several associates attacking the man with belts, blackening his face, and compelling him to issue a public apology on camera.
In the video, the unidentified man appears to be lying on a bed while being repeatedly beaten. Visible injuries and bruises can be seen on his body. Later, he is made to face the camera and apologise for remarks he is accused of making against Hindus and Hindu women.
According to claims made by the group, the man had allegedly used offensive language against Hindus and threatened that Muslims would make life difficult for Hindus if a Muslim led government ever came to power in India. The group justified the assault by describing it as punishment for what they called anti Hindu comments.
Daksh Chaudhary has a significant online presence, with millions of followers across social media platforms. He is known for posting videos in which he claims to intervene in cases related to so called “love jihad” and confront Muslim men.
The video quickly spread online, drawing strong reactions from the public. Many users condemned the incident, arguing that no individual or group has the right to take the law into their own hands. Others expressed support for the action, saying it sent a message against hate speech targeting Hindus.
When approached for a response, Ghaziabad police reportedly said they were not aware of the video or the alleged assault.
The incident has once again brought attention to concerns over vigilantism, communal tensions, and the role of self styled groups carrying out actions outside the legal system.
