Grand Mosque Muezzin Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madni Passes Away
Funeral prayers to be held this afternoon at the Grand Mosque in Makkah
Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madni, muezzin of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, passed away this morning, Monday, corresponding to 10 Rabi al-Thani 1448 AH (September 21, 2026).
The Agency for Imams and Muezzins Affairs announced his passing, offering prayers that Allah envelop him in His mercy and forgiveness, admit him into the highest gardens of Paradise, and reward him generously for his years of service at the Sacred House of Allah.
Funeral prayers for the late muezzin will be held this afternoon at the Grand Mosque, where worshippers and colleagues are expected to gather to bid him farewell.
Sheikh Al-Madni’s final call to prayer was delivered at dawn on 11 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH, roughly a month before his passing. His voice had become a familiar and cherished part of daily worship at the Grand Mosque for those who prayed there and for millions more following broadcasts from Makkah.
The Agency extended its condolences to his family and loved ones, asking Allah to grant them patience and solace during this time of loss.
