E20 Janta Party Gains Online Support, Seeks Nitin Gadkari’s Resignation Over Fuel Policy
A fast growing digital campaign is calling for consumer choice in fuel purchases and greater transparency over the use of ethanol blended petrol.

A new digital movement known as the E20 Janta Party has rapidly gained attention on social media, attracting more than 225,000 followers within a short period. The group is demanding the resignation of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari while urging the government to review its ethanol blending policy.
According to posts shared on its official social media accounts, the E20 Janta Party describes itself as an independent citizens’ movement rather than a political organisation. It says its mission is to protect consumer rights, promote transparency, and encourage public discussion about the long term effects of mandatory E20 petrol on vehicles.
The campaign has stressed that it is not opposed to ethanol blended fuel and is not seeking subsidies or free fuel. Instead, it wants consumers to have the option of purchasing 100 per cent petrol alongside E20 fuel. The group is also calling for clear fuel labelling at petrol stations and the publication of independent studies examining the long term impact of E20 on engine performance, fuel efficiency, and maintenance.
The movement has also drawn support from transport associations, with several groups expressing concerns about higher maintenance costs and reduced efficiency in older vehicles. Organisers say they will continue using digital campaigns and public engagement to raise awareness and press for greater accountability from policymakers.
