A drug awareness programme was organised in Bhatkal on Thursday to educate students and the public about the growing threat of substance abuse and its harmful impact on society. The initiative was jointly organised by Uttara Kannada District Police, Bhatkal Town Police Station and Shri Gyaneshwari B.Ed College.

As part of the programme, students participated in an awareness rally from Shri Gyaneshwari B.Ed College to the Circle area. Carrying messages against drug abuse, students raised slogans and appealed to the public to stay away from narcotics.

Addressing the gathering after the rally, Bhatkal Town Police Station CPI Diwakar PM said that drug addiction is a serious social problem that can destroy students’ education, health and future. He urged young people and the public to completely avoid drugs and focus on building a healthy future.

He further appealed to citizens to immediately inform the police department if they come across any information related to illegal drug trafficking or consumption. He encouraged students to become ambassadors of awareness and actively contribute towards creating a drug-free society.

The programme was attended by PSI Somnath Rathod, PSI Thampa S, PSI Ravi Gandikere, Probationary PSI Siddu Karnal, college Principal Vishwanath Bhat, Vice Principal Nagaraj Madiwal, lecturer Gajanan Shastri, police personnel and a large number of students.
