‘Douse Hatred With Love’: Jamiat Chief Arshad Madani Calls for Greater Communal Unity

Jamiat Ulema e Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani has called on citizens to work together to protect India’s tradition of religious harmony and social unity. Addressing a peace gathering, he appealed to people from all communities to oppose hatred and promote understanding.

Madani said growing divisions in society cannot be addressed through anger or confrontation. Instead, he stressed the need for patience, compassion, and meaningful communication between different communities.

Expressing concern over increasing tensions in parts of the country, the Islamic scholar warned that attempts to spread hatred and create divisions can harm the social fabric of the nation. He urged people not to be influenced by those who use provocative language or create conflicts for personal or political interests.

He said hatred can only be overcome through stronger bonds of brotherhood and cooperation. Madani suggested that community groups, educational institutions, and interfaith platforms should encourage regular interactions among young people to reduce misunderstandings and build trust.

The Jamiat chief also highlighted the importance of maintaining public confidence in constitutional institutions. He said law enforcement agencies and the judiciary must ensure fairness and equal treatment for everyone, adding that any perception of unequal justice can weaken social harmony.

In his concluding remarks, Madani recalled the contributions of people from different communities during India’s freedom movement. He said the country’s strength lies in its diversity and called upon religious leaders to actively promote peace and unity at the local level.
