Delhi Rapido Driver Allegedly Beaten to Death Over Rs 8,000 Loan Dispute
A 23 year old Rapido driver died after a brutal assault, leaving behind his newborn son and a grieving family.
A 23 year old Rapido driver was allegedly beaten to death in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar following a dispute over an unpaid loan amount of Rs 8,000.
The victim, Mohammed Uzaib, was reportedly abducted on June 26 and taken to a secluded area in Najafgarh. According to his family, three men identified as Sandeep, Lalit, and Mohit assaulted him for several hours. They allegedly attacked him with sticks and a sharp object, causing severe internal injuries before leaving him outside his home.
Family members rushed Uzaib to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to the family, Uzaib had borrowed Rs 50,000 from one of the accused to cover his wife’s delivery expenses. They said he had already repaid Rs 42,000, leaving an outstanding balance of Rs 8,000.
His relatives also claimed that about two weeks before the attack, the accused visited their home while Uzaib was away and threatened to seriously harm him if the remaining amount was not paid.
Uzaib was the only earning member of his family following the death of his father. He is survived by his wife, his newborn son, and his mother, who has been left devastated by the loss.
Speaking about her son’s death, his mother, Rabiya, said she wished he had not suffered such a painful end. She recalled that she had never even raised a hand against him and said the thought of his final hours continues to haunt her.
Uzaib’s brother, Zaib, shared details of the incident with FoEJ Media. The family said Uzaib’s wife remains in deep shock and has struggled to cope with the tragedy.
The incident has sparked concern over the deadly consequences of financial disputes and violent crime in the national capital.
