Condolence Meeting Held at Jamia Islamia Bhatkal Following the Passing of Maulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadwi
Scholars and teachers paid tribute to the renowned Islamic scholar, remembering his lifelong contributions to religious education and his deep connection with Bhatkal.
Bhatkal: A condolence meeting was held at the main mosque of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal to mourn the passing of renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadwi.
The gathering began at 12 noon and was attended by the institution’s principal, senior faculty members, and other officials. Speakers reflected on the late scholar’s remarkable life, highlighting his lasting contributions to Islamic scholarship, education, and religious outreach.
During the meeting, speakers recalled Maulana Nadwi’s close and longstanding association with Bhatkal. They said he regularly participated in educational and religious programmes organised in the town, giving local residents and students the opportunity to benefit from his knowledge and guidance.
The speakers also noted that Bhatkal is home to many of Maulana Nadwi’s students and admirers, who frequently visited Jamia Islamia whenever he travelled to the region to seek his advice and attend his lectures.
Several landmark programmes at Jamia Islamia Bhatkal were organised under his guidance and patronage. These included the institution’s Golden Jubilee Educational Convention and programmes conducted by Jamiyat Al Shabab. Speakers said his intellectual leadership and scholarly guidance had a lasting influence on the region’s religious community.
Paying tribute to his character, the speakers described Maulana Nadwi as a fearless scholar known for speaking the truth with courage and conviction. They said this quality would remain one of the defining aspects of his legacy.
The meeting also remembered several of his prominent students from Bhatkal, including former Jamia principal and Imam Maulana Abdul Bari, Qazi of Jamaatul Muslimeen Bhatkal Maulana Abdul Rab Nadwi, Qazi Khalifa of Jamaatul Muslimeen Bhatkal Maulana Khwaja Moinuddin Nadwi Madani, Jamia principal Maulana Maqbool Ahmad Nadwi, founder and General Secretary of Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi Islamic Academy and Ali Public School Bhatkal Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Nadwi, and Maulana Shuaib Nadwi.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the elevation of Maulana Nadwi’s status in the hereafter and for strength and patience for his family and loved ones.
Among those who addressed the gathering were Maulana Abdul Aleem Qasmi, Maulana Maqbool Ahmad Nadwi, Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Nadwi, Maulana Abdul Aleem Khateeb Nadwi, Maulana Shuaib Nadwi, Maulana Farooq Nadwi, Maulana Khalilur Rahman Muniri Nadwi, Maulana Abdul Mateen Muniri, and other scholars.
