CJP Demands Resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, Threatens ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ Agitation

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, issuing a 48 hour ultimatum and threatening nationwide protests under a Jantar Mantar 2.0 campaign if he does not step down.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka accused the top election official of undermining democratic processes and depriving eligible citizens of their voting rights through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The organization called for criminal proceedings against the Chief Election Commissioner, an immediate halt to upcoming elections, and the full restoration of pre-SIR voter lists across all states.
The party also outlined key demands, including an independent inquiry commission supervised by the Supreme Court to examine decisions surrounding the electoral roll revision, as well as the repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of election commissioners to allow greater civil society involvement.
The demands follow widespread scrutiny over the poll panel’s handling of voter lists, with CJP leaders appealing to youth and opposition political parties to actively challenge perceived irregularities rather than participate in compromised electoral processes.
