Centre Restricts Telegram Access in India Till June 22 Ahead of NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination
Government takes preventive measures over exam security concerns as NTA welcomes the decision.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued directions restricting access to the Telegram app in India until June 22, 2026, ahead of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
The move has been taken as a precautionary measure amid concerns related to examination security and the possible misuse of digital platforms during the high-profile medical entrance examination.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET examination, has welcomed the decision, stating that such steps will help maintain the integrity and transparency of the examination process.
Authorities are closely monitoring online platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation, circulation of fake content, or any activities that could affect the fairness of the re-examination.
The restriction is expected to remain in place until June 22, after which further decisions will be taken based on the situation and security assessments.
