Case Registered Against Hindutva Leader Govind Naik for Allegedly Threatening Police Officers During Bhatkal Protest
Police have filed a case against Govind Naik over alleged misconduct during a protest linked to a moral policing incident on Bhatkal's Sagar Road.

Bhatkal: Police have registered a case against Hindutva leader Govind Naik for allegedly using abusive language against senior police officers and unlawfully gathering a crowd during a protest outside the Bhatkal Police Station.
According to sources, the incident took place on Wednesday night when a large number of protesters assembled outside the police station in connection with an alleged moral policing case reported on Sagar Road.
The controversy intensified after a video of Govind Naik went viral on social media. In the video, he is reportedly seen engaging in a heated argument with police officers and speaking in an aggressive and threatening manner. Following the circulation of the footage, several members of the public demanded action against him.
The dispute originated from an incident on Sagar Road in Bhatkal. A Muslim youth, Shahid Khan, had filed a complaint alleging that three individuals stopped him on the road, assaulted him and targeted him.
However, the matter took a different turn when a Hindu woman who was travelling in the vehicle with Shahid Khan filed a separate complaint. She alleged that Shahid was taking her in the car against her will.
Following the woman’s complaint and the protests staged by Hindutva groups outside the police station, police arrested Shahid Khan and produced him before a court. The court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody, and he was shifted to the district jail in Karwar.
According to the latest information, no arrests have yet been reported in connection with the alleged assault and moral policing complaint filed by Shahid Khan against the individuals who allegedly stopped and attacked him.
Police officials have stated that further investigation into all aspects of the case is ongoing.
