CM’s Directives Must Be Strictly Implemented, Uttara Kannada DC Tells Officials
DC K. Lakshmipriya directs government employees to ensure transparent administration, remain at their designated headquarters and prioritise public grievances.
Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmipriya has directed officials and government employees across the district to strictly follow the instructions issued by Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar and work together to provide transparent and people friendly administration.
Speaking after a government employees’ interaction with the Chief Minister held at KRIMS on Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner said all departments must coordinate with each other and work as a team to improve public services and administrative efficiency.
She instructed all government officials and staff to reside at their designated headquarters. She warned that strict action would be taken against employees who live outside their assigned headquarters while continuing to perform their duties.
The Deputy Commissioner said an official handbook containing the names, office addresses, mobile numbers and residential addresses of all district officials and employees would be prepared by August 15.
She also directed government offices to maintain zero tolerance towards corruption. Offices must prominently display telephone numbers and other necessary information through which members of the public can report complaints related to corruption.
She said complaints received from the public are also being monitored by the Chief Minister’s Office and action would be taken against officials found guilty of negligence or dereliction of duty.
The Deputy Commissioner said the ‘Praja Seva’ department has been established to address public grievances and that senior officials would monitor its functioning. She instructed officials to conduct Janaspandana meetings at district, taluk and hobli levels and give priority to resolving issues raised by the public.
On electoral rolls, Lakshmipriya said 100 percent digitisation of the voter list had been completed in the district. She asked officials and employees to verify that their names and other details were correctly recorded in the electoral roll and make corrections wherever necessary with the required documents.
She also instructed Booth Level Officers to ensure that voter names are not removed unnecessarily and to review deletions that have already been made.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dileesh Shashi said instructions issued to district level officers must reach employees at the lower levels and be implemented effectively. He said the district had earned a good reputation for its administration and urged officials to work towards strengthening it further.
Superintendent of Police Deepan M. N., Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla and other district level officials and employees attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, speaking at an interaction with government employees at Vidhana Soudha’s Banquet Hall, said that ministers and officials, including himself, are part of the government workforce and called for everyone to work together as “Team Karnataka”.
He urged government employees to use their opportunity to serve the people effectively and work towards bringing positive changes in their lives. He also advised them to perform their duties according to their conscience without succumbing to pressure from anyone.
The interaction programme was held simultaneously at around 750 locations across Karnataka, with approximately 2.5 lakh government officials and employees taking part.
