Bhatkal Residents Demand Immediate Repair of Roads Damaged by Pipeline Work
Citizens face severe travel difficulties as dug up roads remain unrepaired after water pipeline installation under the Amrut 2.0 scheme.

Residents of Bhatkal have raised strong concerns over the poor condition of roads damaged during the installation of drinking water pipelines in different wards of the town.
A delegation of former members of the Bhatkal Town Municipal Council submitted a memorandum to the Chief Officer of the municipality demanding immediate repair and restoration of roads in Wards 20 and 21.
The delegation warned that if the roads are not repaired before the arrival of the monsoon season, local residents could face serious difficulties and safety risks.
According to reports, pipeline installation work under the Central Government’s Amrut 2.0 scheme was carried out in several important commercial and residential areas including Shabir Street, Shoukat Ali Road, Takiya Street, Gausiya Street, and Farooqi Street.
However, after laying the pipelines, the concerned department and contractor allegedly left the roads in a damaged condition without proper restoration work.
Residents say large potholes have formed in many places, while continuous vehicle movement has created heavy dust pollution in the area. Shopkeepers, pedestrians, and commuters are reportedly struggling due to the worsening road conditions.
The delegation urged the authorities to immediately undertake repair work through interlocking, tar laying, or gravel filling before rainwater starts collecting in the damaged portions of the roads. They said timely action is necessary to prevent accidents and ensure smooth movement for the public.
Councillor Faiyaz Mulla and several others were present during the submission of the memorandum.
