Bhatkal Man Loses Over ₹5 Lakh in UAE, Incident Sparks Warning Against Mod APKs and Unofficial Apps

A Bhatkal man residing in the UAE has reportedly lost AED 20,000 after his mobile phone was allegedly compromised, bringing attention to the growing dangers of downloading unofficial mobile applications.

According to information shared by the victim, AED 12,000 was withdrawn from his credit card while another AED 8,000 was taken from his debit account. The total loss of AED 20,000 is equivalent to approximately ₹5.24 lakh in Indian currency.

The victim has filed complaints with both the police and the bank. The matter is currently under investigation, and authorities have not yet officially confirmed how the alleged breach occurred.

However, the incident has become a wake up call for smartphone users who regularly install mod APKs, cracked applications, unofficial VPNs, and other software downloaded from outside trusted app stores.

Many of these applications attract users by offering expensive services for free. They may promise YouTube Premium features, unlimited cloud storage, premium editing tools, paid games, streaming services, or other paid subscriptions without any cost.
