Bhatkal Doctor Maryam Ishaqui to Begin Service at Government Hospital from November 2
Despite having the option to serve at government hospitals across Karnataka, she has chosen her hometown for a year of medical service.
Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News): Dr. Maryam Ishaqui, who hails from Bhatkal, will begin her medical services at the Bhatkal Government Hospital from November 2. She will serve at the hospital for a period of one year.
Notably, although she had the opportunity to choose a government hospital anywhere in Karnataka, Dr. Maryam opted to serve in her hometown.
Her father, Riyaz Ahmed, told Fikrokhabar that she completed her MBBS degree in Bengaluru last year. She had secured admission through the government quota, under which students are required to serve at a government hospital for one year after completing their internship.
According to Riyaz Ahmed, Dr. Maryam was eligible to choose any government hospital in Karnataka. However, she preferred Bhatkal and secured an opportunity to provide medical services at its government hospital for the required one year.
Her decision has been welcomed locally as a positive step towards strengthening healthcare services in Bhatkal.
Social workers have also appealed to the public to make use of the medical facilities available at the Bhatkal Government Hospital.
