Bhatkal: 65 Year Old Biker Dies After Lorry Collision at Usman Nagar Cross
Locals briefly block the National Highway in protest, alleging inadequate street lighting and demanding improved road safety measures.

Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News): A 65 year old motorcyclist died on the spot after a speeding lorry collided with his bike near Masjid e Toor at Usman Nagar Cross on the National Highway in Bhatkal on Saturday night, October 31.
The deceased was identified as Qasim, a tailor who operated a shop at Sakeena Complex on Bhatkal Main Road.
According to reports, Qasim was returning home to Usman Nagar after finishing his work at the shop. While crossing the National Highway at Usman Nagar Cross, his motorcycle was hit by a lorry. The impact was severe, and he died at the scene.
Following the accident, a large number of local residents gathered at the spot and expressed anger over the lack of adequate street lighting in the area. They alleged that poor visibility at night makes it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to cross the highway safely.
Protesters said vehicles waiting to cross the road and two wheelers are often not clearly visible to drivers approaching from the opposite direction, increasing the risk of accidents.
Demanding immediate action, residents called on the concerned authorities to install proper streetlights and provide essential road safety facilities at the junction.
As part of their protest, locals briefly blocked traffic on the National Highway, disrupting the movement of vehicles.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and held discussions with the protesters. Following police intervention and assurances, the protest was called off and traffic movement on the highway resumed.
