Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday criticized the Congress government in the state, alleging that it has failed to deliver meaningful development despite being in power for three years.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Vijayendra claimed the ruling party was presenting its welfare guarantees as major achievements while ignoring important sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and irrigation.

Questioning the government’s performance, he asked what progress had been made in improving roads, strengthening irrigation projects or upgrading government hospitals and schools during its tenure. He also alleged that even basic civic problems in Bengaluru, including pothole ridden roads, remain unresolved.

Referring to the government’s planned ‘Sadhana Samavesha’ event in Tumakuru, Vijayendra challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to explain the achievements being celebrated. According to him, the administration has not introduced any major development projects that justify such a programme.

The BJP leader also accused the government of neglecting farmers and failing to respond to the difficulties faced by the agricultural sector. He said the administration lacked concern for the problems affecting rural communities.

Commenting on the Congress party’s recent confidence following local by election victories, Vijayendra warned the ruling party against becoming overconfident. He recalled that the Congress had earlier celebrated by poll successes in places such as Nanjangud, but later faced defeat in the Assembly elections.
