Arvind Kejriwal Visits Delhi Petrol Pump to Gather Feedback on E20 Fuel
AAP leader speaks with motorists and mechanics as he renews demand for multiple petrol options at fuel stations.

Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal visited a petrol pump in Delhi to interact with vehicle owners, commercial drivers, and automobile mechanics about the rollout of E20 petrol, which contains a 20 percent ethanol blend.
During the visit, Kejriwal spoke with motorists who shared their experiences using the new fuel. Some drivers claimed they had noticed a decline in fuel efficiency after switching to E20 petrol, while several mechanics raised concerns about its suitability for older vehicles. They said that vehicles manufactured before 2023 could face increased wear to certain fuel system and engine components, though these claims remain a subject of debate among manufacturers and experts.
The visit follows Kejriwal’s recent campaign questioning the Centre’s policy on the wider adoption of E20 fuel. He has written to 29 automobile manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar, and Hero MotoCorp, seeking written clarification on whether E20 petrol is suitable for older vehicle models. He also asked whether manufacturers would take responsibility if consumers experienced reduced fuel efficiency or engine related issues that they attribute to the use of E20 fuel.
Kejriwal argued that consumers deserve clear and consistent information regarding fuel compatibility. He also pointed to what he described as differences between guidance provided in some older vehicle owner manuals and public statements made by automobile companies regarding the use of E20 petrol.
Calling for greater consumer choice, Kejriwal urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that multiple petrol variants are available at fuel stations. He proposed that oil marketing companies offer E20, E10, and ethanol free petrol simultaneously, with clearly displayed prices, allowing vehicle owners to choose the fuel they believe is most suitable for their vehicles.
