‘A Hole in the Boat’ Book by Dr Abdul Hameed Athar Nadwi Released in Mangaluru
The Iqra Academy of Research and Publications hosts a book release ceremony highlighting the importance of translation, scholarship and reading among young people.
Mangaluru: A book release ceremony was held at Iqra Girls Arabic School in Melinamogeru, Mangaluru, to mark the launch of “A Hole in the Boat”, authored by Dr Abdul Hameed Athar Nadwi.
Published by the Iqra Academy of Research and Publications, the book was formally released in the presence of scholars, teachers, parents, students and well wishers from across the region.
Speaking at the event, translator Zainab highlighted the importance of making authentic Islamic literature accessible to readers in different languages.
She stressed the need to translate valuable works into English, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi, pointing out that language barriers often prevent important literary and scholarly works from reaching a wider audience.
Sharing reflections from her 14 year educational journey at the Iqra institution, Zainab described the experience as an important period of learning and character development.
She encouraged the students to see themselves as future translators, scholars, researchers and writers who could contribute to the preservation and spread of knowledge.
Zainab also urged young people to reduce the amount of time they spend on social media and develop a regular reading habit. She encouraged students to devote at least 20 minutes each day to meaningful reading under the guidance of qualified scholars.
The programme brought together members of the academic and religious community, along with parents, students and well wishers, in a gathering centred on literature, education and the importance of developing a culture of reading.
