Yana Tourist Destination Temporarily Closed Due to Heavy Rains
Forest Department restricts visitor entry to Yana as rising river levels and adverse weather conditions raise safety concerns.

Kumta: The Forest Department has temporarily closed the popular Yana tourist destination following continuous heavy rainfall and worsening weather conditions in the region.
Officials said the Chandika River is flowing at a high level due to persistent rains, creating potential risks for visitors. Keeping public safety as the top priority, tourist entry to Yana has been suspended until further notice.
The restriction has been imposed as a precautionary measure in the Yana area, which falls under the Katgal Range of the Kumta Sub Division in the Honavar Forest Division.
Authorities have appealed to the public and tourists not to visit Yana until weather conditions improve and the area is declared safe for travel.
In a notice issued jointly by the Forest Department and the Shri Mahaganapati Gram Forest Committee, Yana, officials warned that anyone entering the restricted area without permission during the closure period will face legal action under the Forest Act.
Forest officials of the Katgal Range, along with the President and Secretary of the Shri Mahaganapati Gram Forest Committee, have urged the public to follow the department’s instructions and cooperate with the safety measures.
