India Pulls Off Thrilling Win at The Oval to Level Series 2-2 Against England

India staged a dramatic comeback to defeat England by six runs at The Oval in the final Test match, drawing the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 2-2. Mohammed Siraj played a starring role, taking five wickets in a spectacular spell on Day 5, helping India snatch victory from what looked like certain defeat.
England started the last day needing just 35 more runs with three wickets in hand, chasing a record-breaking target of 374. Overnight batters Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith resumed their chase, but Siraj struck quickly. He got Smith out with a wide ball, then trapped Overton lbw in his next over, making the game tense and tilting it India’s way.
Prasidh Krishna removed Josh Tongue, England’s No. 9, with an accurate yorker. Injured Chris Woakes, batting almost one-handed, tried to help his team, but the last wicket fell when Siraj bowled Gus Atkinson, ending England’s chase at 367.
Earlier, England had looked in control with Harry Brook smashing a quick 111 and Joe Root scoring a steady hundred, their partnership of 195 runs putting England within touching distance of victory. However, quick wickets, tight bowling, and mounting pressure saw England falter in the final session.
India had set England a tough target thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 118 and Washington Sundar’s fast 53 in their second innings. No team had ever chased more than 263 runs in the fourth innings at The Oval, making this win even more special for India.
Siraj finished as the leading wicket-taker of the series, and India’s fightback on the final morning turned what seemed to be a probable loss into one of their most dramatic away Test wins. This victory means the series ended level at 2-2, a fair result after five hard-fought matches.
